جامع ترمذی کا شمار ان کتب میں ہوتا ہے جو احادیث کی صحیح ترین کتب ہیں۔علامہ ترمذی رح نے یہ کتاب انتہائی محنت شاقہ کے بعد تحریر فرمائی ہے-۔اس کتاب کی خوبی یہ ہے کہ صرف اس کتاب میں احادیث کو زیر بحث نہیں لایا گیا بلکہ اس احادیث کو فقہی ابواب کے پیش نظر رکھ کر کتاب میں لکھا گیا ہے اور ساتھ ساتھ دیگر فقہائے کرام کے مذاہب کو بھی ثابت کیا گیا ہے - دیگر احادیث کی کتب کی طرح امام ترمذی اس کتاب باب سے متعلق بے شمار احادیث ذکر نہیں فرماتے بلکہ صرف ضروری احادیث کو لا کر اپنے فقہی مسلک کو ثابت کرتے ہیں بعض مقامات پر حدیث کی سند اور رواة سے متعلق بحث کو بھی ذکر فرماتےہیں-
اب تک اس کتاب کے جو بھی تراجم شائع ہوئے ہیں وہ اس قدر مستند نہیں تھے الحمد للہ یہ مستند ترین نسخہ شائع ہوا ہے اس میں ترجمہ کے ساتھ حواشی بھی مذکور ہیں جو کہ دیگر کسی اور تراجم میں مذکور نہیں ہے لہذا ایک عام آدمی سے لے کر قاری تک یہ کتاب یکساں مفید ہے
